New Rules on Getting Medications Prescribed Online

Starting from May 11, 2023, the public health emergency (PHE) declared because of the COVID-19 pandemic is set to end. PHE made it easier to get controlled substances prescribed via the Internet without seeing a primary care physician (PCP) in person throughout the treatment course.

What changes for you: Patients who require controlled substances should have an in-person appointment with a PCP to refill their prescriptions online.

New patients

(who start treatment after May 10, 2023)

Can get schedule III-V controlled substances prescribed online for 30 days*.

In the next 30 days, you should see a PCP in person and provide us with a referral to refill your prescription online.

Current patients

You can refill your prescription as usual. But, you also have to see a PCP in person and provide us with a referral before November 7, 2023.

You can download a pdf template of a referral letter here and send it to your PCP via email or take a printed form to your appointment.

*Patients requiring schedule II controlled substances (Adderall, Ritalin, Concerta, etc.) should provide a referral before getting an initial 30-day prescription.

Is an online diagnosis legit?

Our doctors use standard approaches to diagnose mental health conditions and examine health history and medication history. The diagnosis you get online is as legit as the one made in a traditional walk-in clinic if you consult a licensed professional.

Can a doctor make a diagnosis without seeing a patient?

At the EZCare Clinic, you have video appointments with a doctor. The doctor will consider both verbal and non-verbal communication just like during the traditional visit conducted in person.

Can I cover EZCare services with insurance?

We collaborate with more than 20 insurance providers in 6 states. Contact your insurance provider to know if your insurance covers telemedicine services for mental health or medication management. You can also contact our Care Team to learn more.

Can I get help without insurance?

Yes, EZCare services are available for everyone regardless of their insurance plan.

Do you prescribe controlled substances?

The doctors at the EZCare Clinic are licensed to prescribe medications online, including Schedule II-V meds. We only prescribe medications if a patient’s state requires pharmacological treatment. The doctor makes the final decision on the medication choice.

What pharmacies does EZCare Clinic work with?

EZCare Clinic works with almost every pharmacy across the US. Please consult your doctor or contact our Care Team to find out if your pharmacy accepts online prescriptions. We will also tell you if you can order medication delivery to your door.

What if my medications don’t work?

If you don’t see any improvement in 4 to 6 weeks, consult your prescriber to change the dosage of the chosen medicine or get another medication prescribed.
